Even though this video is a parody from the Onion News Network, it is probably NOT safe for viewing at work. While it is NOT pornographic, it is probably not what you would expect to be viewed in most office environments. You have been warned!
The Onion hits the satire pretty hardcore in Use Of ‘N-Word’ May End Porn Star’s Career. The news clip is a fairly convincing parody of many situations that we have seen in the media recently, such as the Don “nappy head” Imus slip of the tongue, Michael Richards’ incredibly self-destructive rant on stage during a comedy routine and countless other incidents involving similar racial slurs.
The manner in which The Onion has chosen to attack this issue is simply hilarious. The true hypocrisy and idiocy of the media making such a huge deal out of these events is depicted perfectly. The Onion is usually known for written satires, but this video shows that their creative staff is on top of their game and more than capable of producing excellent, high quality satirical videos as well.
While I do not condone people speaking racial slurs or anti-semetic rhetoric, I do honestly believe that the way the media chooses to destroy people over such comments is completely uncalled for. There is no reason for the media to play the comments on a repeat-continuous loop for days on end. Doing so does nothing to help reconcile the situation and just pisses people off more than necessary. In the end the media ends up increasing tension and making matters worse.
Anyhow, I thought this video was both well done and damn funny. Hopefully someone other than myself will derive satisfaction out of this comedic parody of similar situations.
This has to be one of the best satire videos I’ve seen them make, and God knows I love many of them. (Did you ever see the outsourcing child care one?)
I like how they so clearly point out the irony of condemning people for racial slurs, when the men are calling the porn star a “cunt” and the sex shop owner is only now calling her “filthy.” That really is how some people perceive things; the priorities are all messed up.

I wish that I could hear it…I can watch it, but no sound comes out. *meh* (yeah, my speakers work fine and my sound is turned on, so I don’t know what the deal is…) However, from reading your blog, the content is all but obvious. I happen to agree whole-heartedly with your stance on the media…I just wish I could agree with you that I think it’s funny. It probably is…but unless I can hear it, I’ll never know. ;)
