Swift for Windows

Swift is a new web browser for Windows that is based on WebKit, which is the rendering engine that powers Safari on OSX. WebKit is based on the KHTML rendering engine, which is was powers Konqueror on Linux. If this applications turns out to be even halfway decent then the browser scene is going to get quite interesting. (via)

Quite a hefty download size for a browser. I’ve given it a good test and it runs well. A couple of small items that might bug me in the long run but it’s only at v0.1 so I’m sure those may change. Certainly one to watch.

I’ll wait untill it’s been going for a while before I try it. I’ll first here what other people have to say about it.

YES. HELL. FUCKING. YES.

For so long have I wanted a KTHML-based browser on my Windows platform to use… for so long have I looked. Finally, it seems we’ve got something.

Let’s hope this isn’t just another half-baked idea for a browser, and becomes a real contender to shake things up a little bit.

Well, I decided to try it out and got bugged within less than 5 minutes.

Looks were Windows 95′ish at best, no good at quick rendering too and there was no vertical scroll possible! Hows that for some feature!

Its still very primitive to be even called a browser that can be used in the first place. May be with time.

The browser is in alpha stage!
No drop down boxes, no scrolling, no GMail!!!
Gonna wait till the Beta version comes
