Microsoft’s much ballyhooed next-generation file system with an SQL backend, which has been position to perform similar to OSX’s Spotlight, is now dead. First they dropped it from Vista, then they released beta 1 but now the project is dead. Is anyone surprised?

I’m not surprised. Microsoft seem to have this habit of promising things they never release. They should just do it the OSX way, and only release information on components that are pretty much a sure thing, and even then only a few months tops before release. But then again, that’d call for more frequent updates, and it seems Windows isn’t really suited for an OSX-like release scheme.

I think oneday we’ll see Mac take over the Windows sales soon, sadly.

Yeah, it is sad when the better product gets more market share

We Come to Bury WinFS……

It’s perfectly reasonable to sugar-coat a bitter pill, but giving someone a teaspoon of sugar while you sneak up behind them with the suppository won’t make you any friends at all….
