Live Messenger Opens to Public

Live Messenger opens for public testing even though the software does not seem to offer anything substantially exciting over its predecessor. To top it off, I am not even sure what makes MSN more compelling than any of the other existing IM offerings other than the fact that everyone seems to use it these days.

With IM messengers I find that most people just go with what they friends went for. I’d use a multi-protocol messenger like Gaim or Trillian but I just haven’t seen one that impresses me enough to switch yet.

I would say MSN Messenger is may favourite out of the ones I have tried but it does have some annoying features (nudges & winks being more annoying than fun).

TechCrunch reported that this new version offers offline messaging and better VoIP (link). If this weren’t still in the very early stages of testing, I’d download it for the offline messaging alone. There are so many small messages I’d love to leave people, but I’m too lazy and/or busy to go to the whole effort of sending an email. *shrugs* May just be me, though!
